Ways to keep your skin fresh during the lockdown

The global pandemic and stress playing havoc with our skin, from acne to dehydration to red blotchy skin. And the secret of beautiful and healthy skin is to understand how your skin functions because this will help you to treat it correctly, keeping it glowing, soft and supple.

Every woman can have a beautiful skin regardless of age and skin tone. So, here is some tips for keeping your skin looking healthy during lockdown — and it involves raiding your pantry

1. The natural facial exfoliator and mask in your pantry

Facial exfoliator and masks are very easy to prepare and fun to apply on the face, neck and décolletage area. Fruits and vegetables will always be among your key ingredients because they can boost skin with vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. Choose them ripe and tender for easy mashing and mixing.
Try to find time for a nutritional mask at least once a week. The addition of an exfoliating agent transforms a mask into a two-in-one mask and scrub. Examples of exfoliating agents are almond meal, semolina, rice beads, and clay, among others.

2. Protect your skin from harmful UVA rays

Whether you stay at home or you are managing to go outdoors for daily essentials, sunscreen is still essential. “I get asked this a lot and yes it’s really important because even if you are staying home and not going outside, UVA rays penetrate through glass and there’s also the blue light that comes from our computers and phones,” says Rukshmani Thakkar, technical head, Enrich.

3. Watch your diet and get moving

Diet and skin care have a great effect on skin cells, since skin needs specific nutrients that can be provided through diet, topically, or both. Lack of fresh air will have an effect on the skin as will lack of movement. This gets the blood rushing around to get as much oxygen into our body. Around 15 mins of self-care goes a long way.

DIY Mask

If you have any natural yogurt, put it on your face and leave it to dry. The lactic acid really helps to digest dead cells. Leave it on for approximately five minutes before rubbing it off with your fingertips.

DIY Exfoliator + Mask

This is a very easy mask in which ground oats do a double job: They soften the skin and exfoliate it at the same time. This one is suitable for all skin types.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon almond oil

3 tablespoons ground oats

100 ml whole milk

10 drops Vitamin E Oil

1 capsule coenzyme Q10 (optional)

Mix the above ingredients until you achieve a paste like texture. Make sure your face and neck are clean and makeup free.

Apply all over your face and neck. Making sure to avoid eye area. Relax and allow 20 minutes contact time.

Remove by rubbing away all the mix with your hands and washing your face with warm water; then pat your face dry with a towel.
