Born on May 24, 1941, Bob Dylan began his musical journey with his self-titled debut album in 1962 and the rest, as they say is history. With a career spanning over 50 years, Bob Dylan is a living legend, who has influenced generations of people with his lyrics and music that range from protest songs to classic ballads. The celebrated American singer-songwriter’s works have been inspired by poets including John Keats and Arthur Rimbaud, so much so that his stage name wasa also kept after Welsh poet Dylan Thomas! Few people know that Bob Dylan’s real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman. Apart from penning lyrics, Bob Dylan has also published books like ‘Tarantula’ and his memoir ‘Chronicles’; some of his classic songs have also been interpreted as children’s books! Considering his works, the legendary singer-songwriter-author has been awarded some of the most prestigous literary awards including, the Pulitzer Prize (special citation) in 2008 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for creating “new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.
