Coffee desserts to perk up your weeknights

If you love coffee, why just sip on it in the morning? Whip up a bunch of coffee desserts to have just any time. Using granules or powder, coffee actually makes for a decadent ingredient in desserts. Dalgona coffee, became famous on Instagram recently, but if you don’t want to experiment much, go for the tried and tested. Here are a few ideas to try…


Take glass bowls and add scoops of vanilla ice cream to it. Prepare brewed coffee and pour this over it (can also use espresso). Sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top.

To make this, pour hot water into a bowl and dissolve espresso granules in it. Add condensed milk (sweet), a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a little salt. Mix well and freeze.

Coffee popsicles

This one gives java an entirely new twist – albeit a chilled one! Make coffee popsicles by first brewing coffee and adding milk, sugar and a dash of cinnamon to it. Once it becomes cool, pour it into the popsicle moulds. Freeze and enjoy.

Coffee pancakes

Mix together flour, baking soda and baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk. Add brewed coffee to it. Mix the ingredients from the two bowls together. Add the batter to a warm, greased griddle and prepare the pancakes. Serve plain or with honey.
